About 160,000 vehicles are expected to return to Santiago this Sunday, after a long weekend

The Minister of Public Works, Juan Carlos García, reported that according to projections, about 160,000 vehicles are expected to return to Santiago, increasing the flow of vehicles between 12 noon and 12 midnight.

“On Route 5 South there will be over 50,000 vehicles returning during the day and on Route 5 North, where there has been a special increase in vehicles compared to previous years, we expect over 30,000 vehicles.”

The head of the MOP added that it is “important to highlight the efforts being made to implement the 3×1 roads, which will be operational on the north, south and central access routes to Santiago,” said the head of the MOP.

Police commander Emilio Teixidor indicated that during “Holy Week” this year “unfortunately nine people have died, victims of traffic accidents so far.”

“There have been 500 traffic accidents with varied and unfortunate consequences, but we also have to say that, in relation to the number of vehicles that traveled along the different routes, there is a drop in the number of accidents and the consequences of these accidents with regarding the comparison line, which is the year 2019,” added the uniformed officer.
