About 120 people finished their basic studies, thanks to Camacol

In its 16 years of history, the program has benefited more than 4,920 construction workers.

The Colombian Chamber of Construction (Camacol) celebrated the graduation of 120 people who were part of the School Works and Baccalaureate in Works program that, since 2007, has become the opportunity for hundreds of people to finish their studies.

For the regional manager of Camacol in Antioquia, Eduardo Loaiza, the Obra Escuela program is an opportunity for older adults eliminate illiteracy indicators, especially for those who work in construction.

Loaiza explained that the program, which began in 2007, initially implied that at least 6% of construction workers, in the Aburrá Valley alone, did not know how to read and had not even finished primary school. .

In its 16 years of history, the Obra Escuela program has benefited more than 4,920 workers, with 3,680 graduates, involving to more than 50 companies and reaching 15 municipalities in regions such as Urabá, Oriente, the Aburrá Valley and in this last semester reaching Urabá Chocoano.

The story of Ubaldo Arango could be the story of any Colombian. He assures that, for economic reasons, it was difficult for him to study at first, but that, thanks to Camacol, today his life has been transformed.

Another who also tells his anecdote is Ermis Diaz, a dedicated student who highlights the Obra Escuela program as the opportunity to have a better future.

In Colombia, more than 1,300 construction companies work on 3,000 housing projects, generating employment for hundreds of men and women, the same ones who in some way have benefited from the Obra Escuela program, in order to respond to all the needs of the sector.
