Santo Domingo – President Luis Abinader will visit this Monday Ministry of Public Works where he will hold a meeting with the head of that entity, Deligne Ascensión, and other officials, to discuss the repair work for the damage left by the passage of Hurricane Fiona through the East and Northeast of the Dominican territory.
The information was offered by the spokesman and director of Strategy and Communication of the Presidency, Homero Figueroa, who said that the president will arrive at the Public Works headquarters at 9:00 in the morning.
He announced that at 6:00 in the afternoon the Head of State will lead a press conference in which he will announce the progress, so far, of the repair work for the damage caused by the atmospheric phenomenon that hit part of the country on last Monday.
The cyclone caused flooding of communities, significant damage to the electrical system, drinking water, agriculture, homes and buildings, felling of trees, power poles.
Faced with this situation, the president reiterated that his priority is to be with all the Dominicans affected by the passage of this atmospheric phenomenon and personally began supervising the relief efforts in the areas affected by Fiona.
As a measure to deal with the contingency, the Executive Power issued Decree 537-22, through which the necessary procedures for the assistance of the provinces of La Altagracia, La Romana, El Seibo, Samaná, Hato Mayor, María Trinidad Sánchez were declared an emergency. , Duarte and Monte Plata, the most affected by the phenomenon.
