Abinader will have an intense agenda at the Summit

President Luis Abinader will have an intense agenda starting today at the Summit of the Americas, which officially begins in Los Angeles.

The Dominican president will participate in various plenary sessions and bilateral meetings with heads of state, government, international organizations, and multinational companies interested in investing in the country.

Among the leaders with whom the Dominican president is scheduled to meet are the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, and the Prime Minister of Haiti, Ariel Henry.

The Summit of the Americas officially begins on Wednesday the 8th and ends on Friday the 10th. His departure from Los Angeles is scheduled for the early morning of that day and he returns to the country around 12:00 noon on Saturday through Punta Cana.

Cooperation

The event and its forums promote cooperation towards economic growth and inclusive prosperity throughout the region, based on common respect for democracy, fundamental freedoms, the dignity of work and free enterprise.

President Abinader plans to visit the SpaceX headquarters on Wednesday, where he will tour and talk with local executives.

The president will participate together with the Minister of Industry and Commerce and Mypimes, Víctor-Ito-Bisonó, at the beginning of the discussion panel “Democratic Governance and the Rule of Law”, in which the presidents of Panama and Costa Rica will also be present.

He will also have lunch with the High Level Business Council of the Alliance for Development in Democracy.

The Head of State will be present at the opening ceremony led by the President of the United States of America, Joe Biden, for the start of the IX Summit of the Americas at the Microsoft Theater.

On Wednesday night, President Abinader will attend a dinner for the “IV Business Forum 2022–Celebrating Creators and Winners”, offered by the Motion Picture Association. At the beginning of this day, the president will hold various meetings, including one with executives from Cargill, Edwards Lifesciences and MasterCard. Likewise, a meeting and photo with the Vice President of the United States of America, Kamalah Harris, as well as Heads of State and Government of the Caribbean countries.

Nothing official about the departure of the president

The departure of the Dominican president was scheduled for the morning at the Punta Cana airport, but was suspended due to the funeral ceremonies in honor of the late Minister of the Environment, Orlando Jorge Mera at the National Palace. He did so in the afternoon, but the official press did not report his departure. The first lady Raquel Arbaje expressed that she will not go with the president and she will stay to accompany the relatives of Orlando Jorge Mera.
