Abinader urges businessmen to continue investing for the development of the DR

Santiago. President Luis Abinader, when starting a three-day agenda in Santiago, called on the business sector to have confidence and continue investing in the country while assuring them of the government’s support for new projects that contribute to the development of the Republic. Dominican.

“Always count on this government for these new projects in the area of ​​tourism, industrial, agriculture and all sectors that create jobs, wealth and development,” said the president.

His words were produced when participating in the first palace that started the expansion work of the Cibao International Airport, with an investment of 300 million dollars and the generation of new jobs.

“These 300 million dollars, which would be about 17 billion pesos, are a very important but also necessary investment, which also reflects how public-private alliances are very successful models,” said Abinader.

Likewise, the 2,500 jobs currently held by the terminal will double, not counting indirect jobs.

In this sense, Abinader added that if those with free zones are added to those figures, “we have increased the level of employment by approximately 20% and 35% in exports.”

Describing this area as rich, thriving and entrepreneurial, the president reconfirmed previously announced works for the continued development of this province such as the cable car, the monorail and other road infrastructure.

The main air terminal in the Northern region will double its capacity, from where two million people are currently transferred per year and more than 25 million pounds of cargo each year.

The president of the Administrative Council of the Cibao International Airport, Félix García, highlighted that the works include the extension of the aircraft movement and parking platform, amplification of the runway by about 280 meters to accommodate aircraft of greater capacity and range, and improvements to the passenger terminal, including new access roads.

Renovation of La Barranquita Sports Complex and start of Pinta tu Barrio – Santiago

Subsequently, the president presided over the act to begin the renovation of the La Barranquita sports complex, which in a first stage will require an investment of 90 million pesos.

It is the second most important sports facility in the country where great athletes from the 15 provinces of Cibao have been trained.

The head of state asked the sports sector and civil society to build strong volunteers and be supervisors for the care of these facilities, with the aim that the government’s effort is maintained over time.

For his part, the Minister of Sports, Francisco Camacho, indicated that these funds will be used to remodel the boxing, combat, gymnastics, table tennis, volleyball and security barracks.

Additionally, the Ministry of Public Works and Edenorte will be in charge of the paving and lighting.

Meanwhile, next January the bidding for the second stage will begin, which will include the remodeling of other areas.

Governor Rosa Santos recalled her commitment to athletes to rescue the complex, which she said should provide them with security and a space to recreate, share and develop in order to represent our country in various sports activities.

The La Barranquita sports complex was built in 1986 with 42.6 million pesos and was the scene of the Central American and Caribbean Games that year.

Later, the ruler went to the El Ejido neighborhood where he gave the first roll to start the Pinta tu Barrio program, which has an investment of 175 million pesos nationwide.

The President invited the neighborhood councils and other citizens to all work together so that in the neighborhoods and sectors that need it “we can paint and in some cases, fix your house.”

One of the benefited homes is that of Mrs. Luz María Peña, 86, who expressed her happiness and said it is a dream that the President will visit her home and be improved prior to the Christmas festivities.

Accompanying the president were the president of the Senate, Eduardo Estrella; the former president of the Republic, Hipólito Mejía; the Ministers of Industry and Commerce, Víctor -Ito- Bisonó; Agriculture, Limber Cruz; the administrator of Edenorte, Andrés Cueto; the directors of CORAASAN, Andrés Burgos, and PROPEEP, Neney Cabrera, among others.
