Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader responded on Monday to the accusations of the opposition about an alleged “makeup” of the official figures, ensuring that the statistics presented by his government come from recognized international organizations.
“I tell the friend President Leonel Fernández that these data are international data. If you want, I give it the name of the director of the FAO to fight with him; also that of Moody’s, of the ECLAC and the World Bank. And that he has good luck discussing that data,” said the president in the weekly with the press.
Abinader said that the function of the opposition is to question, but insisted that the indicators presented by their management have technical and external support.

“What I say or what the opposition says can have bias, but there are the statistics, and there is the people who see what is done,” he said. The Head of State stressed that, unlike previous administrations, his government does not inaugurate hospitals or public works without being completely finished and within the legal margins.
The president took the opportunity to remember key investments in the hospital system, such as the recovery of the Ney Arias Lora, which he found as an “abandoned shell” and today is one of the most modern medical centers in Gran Santo Domingo.
He also cited the end of the maternity of the Marcelino Vélez hospital and the legal conclusion of the Luis Eduardo Aybar health city, after solving overpagos and irregularities in its construction.
“Ask José Joaquín Puello, who manages that health city, to speak of their current situation,” said Abinader.
