Santo Domingo.- Less than a month after his appointment, President Luis Abinader ordered this Thursday the temporary suspension as vice consul of the Dominican Republic in Barcelona, Spain, of the former Minister of Youth, Light of Dawn Jimenez Ramirez.
“President @luisabinader, in response to the request of the @DIGEIGRD, ordered the provisional suspension of Ms. Luz del Alba Jiménez Ramírez as vice consul at the Consulate of the Dominican Republic in Barcelona,” said the government spokesperson, Homer Figueroa on his Twitter account.
The measure is contained in decree number 87-23 released this Thursday night, which was taken at the request of the director of Ethics and Government Integrity, Milagros Ortiz Bosch.
“In my capacity as advisor to the Executive Branch in matters of Ethics, Transparency and Government Integrity, I inform you that with respect to the indicated person, an investigation report was made by a group of State bodies and an audit by the Anti-Fraud Unit the Comptroller General of the Republic, due to complaints filed during her tenure as Minister of Youth”, reads the letter addressed to the head of state by Ortiz Bosch.
It was unknown that Jiménez Ramírez had been relocated by President Abinader, since the decree with her appointment was never released. However, in the letter from Ortiz Bosch it is highlighted that the former Minister of Youth was named in article 5 of decree 53-23 of February 14.
“In this sense, considering that Law no. 41-08 provides that the provisional suspension of officials is appropriate if it is convenient for a judicial or administrative investigation, we suggest that the provisional suspension of Ms. Luz del Alba Jiménez Ramírez be ordered as vice consul at the Consulate of the Dominican Republic in Barcelona, Kingdom of Spain, until the Public Ministry communicates the culmination of the investigations carried out regarding her performance in the role of Youth Minister,” the letter concludes.

It is recalled that Jiménez Ramírez had been dismissed from her duties as Youth Minister, following a complaint of embezzlement in a purchasing process, made by a former employee of the institution.
The case was supposedly being investigated by the Attorney General’s Office (PGR), but its progress was never reported.
