Hatillo. The President Luis Abinader put on a National Police uniform and stated that anyone who does not feel passion and patriotism should not get involved in that institution or in the Armed Forces.
At a lunch with members of the police from the 2 de Marzo Academy in Hatillo, San Cristóbal, the president stated that “those who do not feel the desire, those who do not feel that inner fire to improve the country, should not get involved in the Police. National, or in the Armed Forces or in public service. He can dedicate himself to other things.”
Abinader said he felt confident, seeing the young officers who will be in the national direction of the uniformed throughout the territory.
He assured that the country will have a reformed police institution, an example of efficiency, transparency and service for the entire country.
“And this means going up, increasing the morale of all the police officers, supporting both the income, the quality of life of the police officers, and also supporting them from the material point of view, greater technification and greater equipment so that they can fulfill their mission” , he exposed.
On his side, the Minister of the Interior and Police, Jesús Vásquez, valued President Abinader’s interest in transforming the National Police, while the director of the National Police, Alberto Then, expressed the honor represented by the president’s historic visit to the academy.
On behalf of the enlisted, the captain of the National Police, Joel Peralta Leclerc said he was proud of the presence of the head of state.
Abinader was accompanied by the General Director of Traffic Safety and Land Transportation (Digesett), Ramón Antonio Guzmán Peralta; the Deputy Director General of the National Police, Orizon Minaya; the Executive Commissioner for Police Reform, José Vila del Castillo, among others.
