Abinader reviews measures to improve transportation problems

President Luis Abinader assured that he is working on a plan to mobility modernization in different areas, with the aim of consolidating a model of sustainable development and improve the transportation problem.

During his accountability before the Joint Meeting of both camerasthe president indicated that to improve urban traffic, the Dominican Government is committed to quality public transport.

“The public transport corridors in Núñez de Cáceres and Winston Churchill are already operating, we will continue in the coming days with the one on Charles de Gaulle Avenue. Corridors are planned in the main avenues of Greater Santo Domingo and Santiago, as well as to promote other means such as the subway or cable car, as fast and sustainable ways to move around cities”, said the president.

He added that, to improve the transportation problem, of the two cable car projects under construction, the one in Los Alcarrizos will end at the end of this year and the one in Santiago at the end of next year, 2023.

“Line 1 of the metro is in the process of construction and expansion to double its passenger transport capacity and will be ready by the middle of next year 2023. A few weeks ago we gave the first peck to start the construction of the junction of KM 9 of the Metro with Los Alcarrizos, reaching the cable car station that will transform public transportation in the west of Santo Domingo”, he explained.
