Santiago. – The president Luis Abinader This Saturday he received the title “Doctor Honoris Causa” in Agroindustrial Sciences, the highest distinction, awarded by ISA University, in recognition of its visionary leadership and the initiatives promoted to strengthen educational programs and the country’s agroindustrial and productive sector.

After receiving the insignia, the president expressed that “this recognition is not only a reason for personal pride, but also a reflection of the commitment we have as a society towards education and the development of our nation.”

In addition to the delivery of the title “Doctor Honoris Causa” to President Abinader, the ISA University celebrated its Fifty-Second Ordinary Graduation of 324 new professionals on its Santiago Campus, who were accredited in different areas of knowledge, with emphasis on Animal and Agri-Food Sciences, as well as Basic, Social and Environmental.

Of the titles conferred, 6.2% correspond to the Higher Technician level, 72.8% to degree programs and 21% to graduate programs. In addition, the ceremony reflected representative gender equality, with 48.6% women and 51.4% men.

The president said he was convinced that investing in education means investing in sustainable development, equity and prosperity, which is why he considered that each young person who graduates from universities represents a light of hope, a future that is being built. about knowledge and innovation.

“Each of you, students, has the ability to become leaders in your respective fields, to generate solutions to the challenges facing our society and to contribute to the advancement of our country. Education empowers us, allows us to question, challenge norms and build a better world,” he expressed.

In the president’s opinion, critical education is not only a right, it is a duty of each one as citizens committed to the well-being of society; In addition, it encourages independent thinking, intellectual curiosity and the ability to argue.

He emphasized that in an era of instant information and, often, misinformation, it is vital that young people learn to navigate this sea of ​​data with discernment and added that fake news is presented under the guise of fait accompli, manipulating the perception of reality and generating divisions and that not only confuse, but also fuel distrust towards institutions, authorities and among citizens themselves.

“This is a dangerous path that, if not confronted, can lead to polarization and the erosion of our democracy. We cannot allow fear and confusion to dictate the course of our nation. We cannot give in to the voices that seek to sow chaos. On the contrary, we must unite in the defense of democracy and our citizen rights,” the head of state warned.

Call to become guardians of the truth

As president of the Dominican Republic, he explained, his duty is to protect and promote the well-being of the nation, which is why he called on everyone: the media, schools, civic organizations and, above all, each of graduating students to become guardians of the truth.
