Santo Domingo, RD. – The president Luis Abinader and the general director of CustomsYayo Sanz Lovatón, inaugurated on Wednesday a modern Courier terminal for the management and storage of express parcel and electronic commerce, in the Las Américas International Airport Dr. José Francisco Peña Gómez.
The work, which represents an investment of US $ 10 millionIncreases the processing capacity by 186 %, with a total area of 4,858 m². With this extension, more than 4 million additional packages can be dispatched every year, complying with the highest quality and safety standards.
The director of the DGA, Yayo Sanz Lovatónstressed that “there are more than 4 million additional packages that we can process, and we will do it with efficiency, security and cutting -edge technology.”
For its part, Mónika Infante, CEO of Dominican Airports 21st century (Aerodom), stressed: “Aerodom and Vinci Airports maintain an unwavering commitment to the development of the country. Each investment strengthens the airport infrastructure, drives economic growth and ensures a safe, efficient and continuous air connectivity. This new terminal, destined for the General Directorate of Customs more agile, safe and efficient. ”

In terms of safety, the installation has state -of -the -art X -ray equipment, which expedite and optimize the inspection of all express packages that enter the country, reinforcing national security at the same time.

The works began in May 2023, responding to the sustained growth of electronic commerce in the Dominican Republic. The work was possible thanks to a public-private alliance, at no cost to the Dominican State.
The new Courier terminal will operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, benefiting users with a faster office, better load shelter and greater traceability.
“We continue working so that the Dominican Republic is a world -class logistics hub,” concluded Sanz Lovatón.
Recognition

During the event, the Dominican Association of Companies Courier (ASODEC), delivered recognition to President Luis Abinader, for his vision, leadership and motivation for the realization of this project.
The recognition was delivered by Tomas Berrido, director of Asodec.
The activity was attended by: Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Carlos Antonio Fernández Onofre; Minister of the Presidency, José Ignacio Beicho; The Minister of Tourism, David Collado; Minister of Culture, Roberto Ángel Salcedo and the director of the Airport Department (DA), Víctor Pichardo.
