San Francisco de Macoris, Duarte. President Louis Abinader started this Wednesday the work for the construction of the housing project in the Azul neighborhood of the Santa Ana sector.
The project will be executed by the Presidential Commission for Provincial Development Support, with an investment of 325 million and will benefit more than 50 families living in risky conditions on the banks of the Jaya River and will be relocated to said complex.
The president of the Commission, Ángel De la Cruz, stated that the work represents a drastic change in the lives of these families, who will go from living in a dangerous area, due to inclement weather conditions and constant flooding, to residing in a private apartment.
“Very soon the residents of Barrio Azul will have a decent place to live, as every citizen deserves.”
De La Cruz also highlighted the transformation that the Duarte province is undergoing, with the development of the 3R project (Recovery, Reengineering and Renovation) in the demarcation and that has a positive impact on the quality of life of the people.
Almost RD$ 100 million in electrification projects
Earlier, the president inaugurated seven new electrical projects on various roads and sports facilities that will impact 1,146 users as well as dozens of children and young people who practice sports.
These are added to another 46 electrification projects for a total of 53 in this Duarte province, investing more than 99.27 million pesos for the benefit of 2,731 families.
The works put into operation this Wednesday were the adaptation of luminaires on Libertad Avenue and at the exit to Santo Domingo, Los Rielitos and Casa Vieja with 390 poles, 705 luminaires, almost 39 kilometers of medium and low voltage cables and 58 transformers.
The administrator of Edenorte, Andrés Cueto, indicated that “multiple projects have been carried out that have made it possible to significantly increase the availability of the electric power service in a sustained and safe manner, improving the quality of life of citizens, business development and economic dynamism. ”.
Social assistance programs

Supervises works Cañada Grande and new construction Fortaleza
Subsequently, the Head of State supervised the work of the Cañada Grande, where last July the first stage of sanitation and adaptation work began, which includes its lining in reinforced concrete, box culverts at its intersections and protection of gabion margins.
The project will be carried out in 3 stages, with a total length of 1.2 kilometers. This first stage contemplates a section of 636 meters, starting 40 meters upstream from Libertad Avenue, up to 27 de Febrero Street.
On his side, the director of the INDHRI, Olmedo Caba, explained that the work will solve the overflows caused by accumulation of water during the rains, and that it will also provide a surface suitable for vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
While the construction of the new fortress is scheduled to be completed in mid-2023 with a capacity for more than 300 soldiers and 70 officers.
The President recalled that a cultural center for San Francisco will be built in the space of the old structure and that both works will have an approximate investment of 1,800 million pesos.
Likewise, offices for 911, INESPRE, INTRANT, Public Works, among others, will be built.
New BanReservas office
Likewise, the president inaugurated a new BanReservas office to continue the economic dynamism of the municipality, which has a loan portfolio of more than 5,300 million pesos and a deposit portfolio of 12,555 million pesos.
Similarly, only in the municipality of San Francisco de Macorís, the loan portfolio for the pledge of rice reached the record figure of 2 thousand 436 million pesos and the deposits, 12,714 million pesos.
