Abinader inaugurates the Technological Center of INFOTEP in Social Improvement

National District. –The National Institute of Professional Technical Training (INFOTEP) inaugurated, with the presence of President Luis Abinader, the Josefa Brea Technological Center in the populous Social Improvement sector.

Rafael Santos Badía, general director of INFOTEP said that this training space is the product of the tripartite support of businessmen, workers and the Dominican Government, and driven by the active dynamics of social inclusion carried out by President Abinader.

“INFOTEP once again, on this occasion, in a more sensitive way, brings its professional technical training services to the population that needs it most, inaugurating the Josefa Brea Technological Center, a magnificent place for preparing young people and adults without jobs and without studies -SIN-SIN- who aspire to decent jobs and more promising opportunities for growth”, he said.

He also announced the beginning of a program that will benefit 1,300 young people who will be given a stipend of 400 pesos a day, while they attend one of the technical careers.

“This new location, together with the system’s 15 operating centers, will train specialized technicians who will have the opportunity to find quality jobs,” said Santos Badía.

This will be done through 32 different training actions in the areas identified as those with the greatest demand and need in the area, and other 4.0 approach training will be given soon.

He stated that the goal of the Center is to train more than seven thousand participants each year who reside in the 42 neighborhoods and sectors of District 3 of the National District, with the aim of positively impacting the productive sectors and improving the quality of life of people. Likewise, some 20,000 young people who attended various technical qualification programs for decent employment benefit.

“Today we put this Center into operation, in the very heart of the capital’s population, bringing to the women, men and young people of this populous sector the bread of specialized education, which will allow them to overcome economic limitations and fulfill their dreams of overcoming, through the undertaking of their own businesses, or successfully employing themselves in a commercial or industrial company”, expressed Santos Badía.

On his side, the Minister of Labor Luis Miguel De Camps said that the management led by President Abinader understands the value of professional technical training and its impact on the country’s economic development.

“The goal is to bring it closer to the people, to facilitate access to these opportunities, this is the president’s vision and it is what we work for every day,” said the labor minister.

He also said that the data provided by the National Consultation on the Future of Professional Technical Training (July, 2021), prepared by the National Institute of Professional Technical Training (INFOTEP), the Dominican Republic must prepare human resources in occupations that will require the society and thus generate jobs for the future, as a result of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0).

The Josefa Brea Technological Center is located on Josefa Brea street in the Social Improvement neighborhood, two blocks from Av. 27 de Febrero, in a three-story building, with 1,098 m2 of construction, in a total space of 695 m2.

It has an Automotive Workshop, Computer Workshop, Kitchen Workshop, Classrooms, Beauty Practices Workshop, supply warehouses, offices, service areas for participants and other administrative areas.

In addition, it has parking, emergency power plants and running water supply.

The Center will offer 32 different training actions such as Residential and Commercial Installer Electrician, Community Electrician, Interior Installation Electrician Assistant, Thermosolar Panel Installer, Upholstery Assistant, Repairer and Installer of Domestic Refrigeration and Air Conditioning equipment, Motorcycle Mechanic Assistant. Residential Plumber, Barber / Hairdresser, Hairdresser Assistant.

Likewise, Hair and Extensions Adapter, Hair Colorist, Nail Designer, Accounting Assistant, Permanent Makeup Artist, Cook, Dominican Basic Cuisine Cook, Accounting Assistant, Dessert and National Sweets Maker, Program Manager Office and Internet.

Also, Call Center Operator, Baker, Pastry Chef, Bakery Assistant, Pastry Assistant, Pastry Decorator, Hotel Receptionist, Bartender, Restaurant Waiter, Room Waiter, Body Masseur, Sales Assistant.
