Santo Domingo Este.- Continuing with his inauguration schedule, President Luis Abinader inaugurated this Tuesday the first stage of Avenida Ecológica, the most important road project in Santo Domingo Eastaccording to the Government.
This will expedite vehicular traffic in the area and will have a general impact for the entire metropolitan area of Greater Santo Domingo, a government statement said.
Section 1A has an investment of 400 million pesos and consists of the construction of the Ecological Avenue from Ciudad Juan Bosch to the intersection with the Samaná Highway, for a total of 1.97 kilometers of main road.

At the intersection with the Samaná Highway, a traffic distributor was built consisting of a 52-meter-long elevated, 28 box-type beams with 2.18 kilometers of branches and 0.95-kilometer widening of a section of the Northeast Highway.
On his side, the Minister of Public Works and Communications, Deligne Ascención, stressed that, with the support of President Luis Abinader, and in compliance with his urban development plan and his concern to improve the quality of life of all Dominicans, ” Santo Domingo Este is being transformed into one of the most attractive residential and commercial areas of Greater Santo Domingo”.
He also added that the impact of this project turns the avenue into a high-capacity road for vehicular traffic and they will be able to move to and from the National District, connecting with countless urbanizations and neighborhoods of SDE and other areas in the east of the country.
He explained that by incorporating traffic on this road to Juan Pablo II, vehicles in the area will be able to connect with the Santo Domingo Beltway, avoiding congestion in many areas and allowing access to the Duarte, Sánchez and 6 de Noviembre highways.
He also reported that they are working on the completion of Section II that will extend the Ecological Avenue to the Multimodal Port of Caucedo.
The works of this first stage consisted of traffic maintenance, expropriation process, clearing and brush clearing, rock cutting with a milling machine, caliche filling, stabilized base, primer irrigation and surface layer 4.
The construction of the elevated Samaná highway crossing, construction of sidewalks and embankments, construction of scuppers, 36 culverts, expansion of the ADN roadway, road markings, obstruction of the New Jersey wall, lighting and landscaping were also carried out.
