The president of the Republic, Luis Abinaderinaugurated this Friday afternoon the National Agricultural Fair 2023event in which there will be a demonstration and sale at low prices of the best products of the Dominican field.
The opening ceremony held at the Livestock City, in the National District, featured a parade of different breeds of animals and choreography of equestrian groups. The event will last until sunday march 26 and was dedicated to the head of state himself.
Jose Manuel Mallen, president of the National Board of Cattlemen (PNG), organizer of the event, thanked the Government for its actions in favor of the sector: zero-rate loans, fertilizer subsidies, purchase of milk for school breakfast, among other facilities.
The producer stated that, despite the international conflict, the agricultural sector has remained strong, which has contributed to the growth of 5% of the economy in 2022. In addition, it requested support from the Government to improve the facilities of the Cattle Cityhow to make garbage collection more efficient and roof the central oval of the enclosure.
While the Minister of Agriculture, Limber Cruzstated that, due to the joint work between the Government and the agricultural sector, the country imposes record figures: in 2022 there were 350 million quintals of foodenough to supply, not only the national demand, but also the million tourists that arrive every year and to export to Haitiwhere the productive apparatus collapsed due to the crisis.
Abinader toured the different pavilions where the products are sold.
During the fair there will be artistic activities and cattle auctions.
Several government ministers, the directors of the National Cattlemen’s Board, the mayoress of the National District, Carolina Mejía, among other personalities, were present at the activity.
