San Juan de la Maguana.- President Luis Abinader inaugurated this Saturday in the province of San Juan the expansion and construction of several aqueducts, a treatment plant and an educational center in the Matas de Farfán municipality, works that, according to the Government, are part of a commitment assumed by the current administration.
When offering the central speech on the hydraulic works, the director of the National Institute of Drinking Water and Sewers (INAPA), Wellington Arnaud, assured that the same will positively impact more than 70 thousand people of San Juan.
Among the works delivered the wastewater treatment plant and the improvement of sanitary sewer of the Farfan busheswhich would guarantee health and quality of life for people.
In addition, the government delivered the expansion of the Matas de Farfán aqueduct; the reconstruction of the delivery line of the Juan de Herrera aqueduct; the enabling of the El Córbano aqueduct and the construction of the Yabonico Multiple Aqueduct.
The expansion of the Las Matas de Farfán aqueduct includes the construction of a well fielda new tank with a capacity of 400 cubic meters, the installation of 1,653 connections and a conduction line and distribution network.

Meanwhile, the improvement of sanitary sewer of Las Matas de Farfán covers the rehabilitation of the treatment plantthe construction of two optional lagoons and a finishing lagoon, as well as the installation of 8,000 meters of 8-inch pipes.

Arnaud highlighted that for a long time these types of works were not a priority, because they are not seen, but they are felt in the health of the people, which is why President Luis Abinader has been in charge of allocating resources and making this intervention a reality that today brings health and well-being to the population.

During his visit to the southern province of Abinader, accompanied by the first lady, Raquel Arbaje, León Romilio Rodríguez Ventura educational center opened in Las Matas de Farfánin the Carrera de Yeguas municipal district, of this province, a work that will benefit more than 300 students.
The building has nine classrooms, science and computer laboratories, library, teachers’ lounge, guidance office, infirmary, multipurpose room, counseling, storage rooms, dining room, bathrooms, recreation areas, civic plaza and other facilities.

At the event, the Vice Minister of Planning and Development of the Ministry of Education, Rolando Reyes, stated that the work constitutes a key step to guarantee the 12 years of schooling that every student in the Dominican educational system must complete, from first grade to graduation from high school.

As part of his visit to San Juan, the president visited the facilities of the Alegría FARMS free zone, located in Las Matas de Farfán, where he confirmed the progress of industrial operations that boost the local economy.
This company generates around 80 direct jobs and hundreds of indirect jobs that benefit families in this municipality.
The head of state took a tour of the company with its owners, Sandino González and Gilly de González, where he took the opportunity to highlight the Government’s commitment to that industrial sector.
