Abinader highlights the importance of the dynamization that the DR has in economic matters

President Luis Abinader highlighted this Friday the importance of the dynamization of the Dominican Republic in economic matters, with the active participation of the private sector as a key ally in identifying and promoting initiatives aimed at investment and the reactivation of trade in the region.

The president said that the Dominican Republic is the first country in the Caribbean to seek economic, commercial, financial and cultural integration with the Central American region.

He specified that the country provides a favorable climate for private investment, always wanting to take advantage of the company location network to turn the Dominican Republic into the main logistics and industrial area in Latin America and the Caribbean.

“The advantages of the geographical geolocation of the Dominican Republic are many and, for us, unbeatable, and as we are aware of this important aspect, we are committed to taking advantage of it positively, working in favor of improving the quality and competitiveness of our infrastructures, as well as in transport and logistics services, to guide them towards the integration of the territory, support for national productive development and competitive insertion in international markets ”, said Abinader during the First Business Forum: Building the Transformation of Regional Development, at the hotel Hyatt Zilara in Punta Cana.

The head of state declared that with that meeting seek to facilitate the identification and generation of joint ventures, stimulate foreign investment and continuously access the resources so necessary to achieve the definitive take-off of the countries that make up the Central American Integration System. With this, he said that it will allow him to achieve and consolidate the reactivation of the economy, growth with social justice that is based on recovery and job creation, which is the fundamental objective of economic policy.

He stated that, through the countries that make up the Central American Integration System, a sustainable, green, resilient and inclusive development of the country is promoted.

The director of Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), Hostos Rizik, affirmed that the local work that the bank has been doing is aimed at institutional strengthening and productive capacities.

“Today, the Dominican Republic has all the conditions for investment; It is a country that generates trust in the international community, where the private sector is a fundamental engine of the economy ”, Rizik stated.

Meanwhile, the director of Pro Dominicana, Biviana Riveiro, pointed out that the country has stood out for being an ideal destination for the materialization of businesses, and that result is based on the firmness of principles and values ​​oriented by a commitment to growth and sustainable economic development.

“But if we talk about in regional terms, according to the Uncdtad (United Nations Conference on Trade and Development), in the last five years, outgoing investment flows from Central America reached 1,439.7 dollars,” he said.

In addition, he specified that this amount could be much higher if part of the investments that go abroad could materialize in other countries within the same region.

He argued that confidence in investors in the country is evident, since the Dominican Republic, in the 2016-2020 period, received more than US $ 110 million of Central American investment.
