Abinader heads the start of construction of a warehouse in Puerto Caucedo

Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader gave the first palazo on Tuesday that started the construction work of the first Emergent Cold Latam refrigerated warehouse in the Dominican Republic, at the DP World facilities in the Caucedo Multimodal Port.

The warehouse will offer controlled temperature solutions to the Dominican market and the region, which during development will generate thousands of jobs.

The palazo was given together with Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Chairman & CEO of DP World and Neal Rider, CEO of Emergent Cold Latam.

The promoters of the project assure that
the provider of logistics solutions DP World and Emerging Cold Latin America, temperature-controlled storage and logistics provider company.

The modern refrigerated warehouse will be erected in Caucedo Point.

The facilities will be erected within the facilities of the economic zone of DP World in its operation Dominican Republic, and according to the promoters, it will provide customers of both organizations with cold chain solutions that will be integrated into their respective supply chains.

They say that the construction of this facility is the result of a collaboration agreement that was signed between the two companies, for the development of warehouses for logistics services of controlled temperature within the economic zones of DP World in the region.

Among these are DP World Posorja in Ecuador and DP World Callao in Peru; being the Dominican Republic the first operation in which a warehouse with these characteristics will be established.

It was held at the DP World operations located in Punta Caucedo and was attended, in addition to the president, by Mr. Sultán Ahmed Bin Sulayem, global CEO of DP World, Neal Rider, CEO of Emergent Cold Latin America and the CEO of the operations of DP World in the Dominican Republic, and Morten Johansen.

Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, global CEO and Chairman of DP World, assured that this alliance with the company Emergent Cold Latin America and the subsequent construction of a state-of-the-art cold storage fit perfectly with the vision of the future and the growth plan that it has. DP World, not only for the region but for the country.

This plan consists of the development of 3,000,000 square meters of land for the development of free zones for manufacturing and to continue promoting the country as an attractive destination for manufacturing and logistics companies to set up, operate and make investments in a nearshoring format.

About the cold store

The state-of-the-art facility will provide precise temperature and effective cold chain management, ensuring the integrity of each product that will be stored. In the same way, it has the most advanced logistics system in the Americas region, which will allow greater inventory visibility and much more efficient operations.

The warehouse will also have 6,500 square meters with controlled temperature and 8,000 multi-temperature pallet positions (frozen, refrigerated and ambient). In the same way, it will have a 22-meter dispatch area with 13 dock doors, which will facilitate processes related to inspections, product preparation and efficient movement of merchandise, as well as an ammonia refrigeration system, LED lighting, use of solar energy and mobile shelving.

The facility will have the Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies (EDGE) certification, which certifies that the building is in accordance with environmental protection and sustainability, responding to the commitment that both organizations have with sustainability.
