Santo Domingo.– The president Luis Abinader This Saturday he delivered the cleaning of the canyon The Peralejos and inaugurated the Villa Aura-Los Olivos children’s staynext to 200 apartments in the Lolita II residential complexin the municipality Santo Domingo West.
The works represent a joint investment of more than 813 million pesosdirectly impacting thousands of families in the area.
Investment and scope of projects
The cleanup of the Los Peralejos canyon involved an investment of more than 223 million pesosbenefiting more than 30 thousand inhabitants from surrounding sectors.
Meanwhile, the Villa Aura-Los Olivos children’s stay had a cost of 60 million 885 thousand 734 pesoswhile the 200 apartments in the Lolita II residential complexbuilt through Ministry of Housingrequired an investment of 529 million 848 thousand pesos.
Details of the cleaning of the ravine
The director of the Santo Domingo Aqueduct and Sewer Corporation (CAASD), Felipe Antonio Suberví (Fellito)explained that the work included the boxing of the ravinethe placement of pipes up to 60 inches in diameter and the intervention of 1,430 linear meters of infrastructureguaranteeing adequate conduction of waste and rainwater.
As part of the project, a community recreation areacontributing to urban recovery and the use of public spaces in the Los Peralejos sector.
Suberví reported that housing recovery actionsamong them preventive demolition and reconstruction of a three-story building at risk of collapseas well as works of renovation of homes in critical conditionwith the aim of ensuring decent and safe conditions for the benefited families.
Part of a comprehensive plan
The work is part of the recovery project of 45 kilometers of ravines that the CAASD has been running since the year 2020of which 19 kilometers have already been delivered.
The official added that the work of sanitation of the Los Girasoles canyon and the storm drainage of Monumental Avenuein addition to being in the bidding process 50 linear meters of a tributary of Los Peralejos.
“The work we have done here is of great importance and the social impact is invaluable, because it reduces vulnerability to flooding, improves sanitary conditions and protects the hydraulic capacity of the channel, integrating a park and recreational areas that return space to the community,” said Suberví.
He explained that the work was conceived as a comprehensive solution to reduce sources of contamination, optimize storm drainage and reduce the health risks that for decades affected the surrounding communities.
