San Pedro de Macorís. – President Luis Abinader delivered 394 new property titles to the same number of families, which translates into benefits for 1,600 people in the Ramón Santana municipality in San Pedro de Macorís.
It is the first delivery of titles in this district that brings to the beneficiaries the security and peace that means having documents that accredit them as owners of land on which they built their homes and work to guarantee their livelihood.
When addressing those present, President Abinader reiterated that titling is one of the most important public policies and with which he feels the greatest satisfaction because it makes the greatest expression of social justice visible and triples the value of those lands.
He recalled that for decades the lack of ownership has been an injustice in Latin America, leaving people “in the legal shadows and without the security of their assets. And today the Dominican Republic is slowly reversing that reality, building a path towards a formal economy.
«And with these titles we are closing the gap of inequalities, while recognizing the value of those who worked hard to build brick by brick their lives, and their dreams, so this delivery of certificates, more than a simple document, is a symbol of hope, but also of change, and it is the certainty that no one should be left out and no family should be forgotten.”said President Abinader.
Maura Aurosa Celeste, representing the beneficiaries, thanked the president for making it a reality for them to have documents that guarantee ownership of the land on which they live and work.
Addressing those present, Duarte Méndez, executive director of the State Land Titling Technical Execution Unit, indicated that these works save the beneficiaries a total of RD$31,520,000.00.
He stated that they are currently working to find a legal solution to the title certificates that remain to be delivered, “so that our president comes again to give them their property titles«.
The blessing was given by priest Alberto Ortiz of the Immaculate Conception parish, who thanked the president for making possible the reconstruction of the local temple, the curial house and a vehicle for the community.
