Azua.- President Luis Abinader delivered, together with the Minister of the Presidency, Joel Santos, a new populated center in Monte Grande with 390 homes, which benefits the same number of families that were mobilized in 2009 for the construction of the Multiple Dam Project Great mountain.
“Today is a great day because hundreds of families who have been displaced for more than a decade are going to find their permanent residence,” said Abinader.
The investment for this project, which the President described as transcendental, amounted to RD$1,419.8 million coordinated through the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources (INDRHI).
It has an aqueduct, sewerage, storm drainage, treatment plants, electrification system, sidewalks, curbs and streets.
“It is a consistency of this government to always add the social part to send a clear message that people come first for us,” added Joel Santos.
The beneficiary families resided in the Los Güiros, La Meseta, Monte Grande and San Simón communities and their new homes are equipped with beds, refrigerators, stoves, gas cylinders, living room and dining room sets, among other household items.
In the community, the primary health care unit, basic school, churches and police station are also being completed, and the children’s day care center, a market, community center, basketball court, baseball court, funeral home and cemetery will soon begin.
Likewise, they will have an agricultural settlement with technical irrigation systems in order to increase their income and continue to improve their quality of life.
