President Luis Abinader appointed Faride Raful as the new Minister of the Interior and Police on Wednesday.
Likewise, Abinader appointed Jesús Vásquez Martínez as Consul General in New York; while Eligio Jáquez, who served as Consul General in New York, has been appointed Advisor to the Executive Branch for Agricultural Affairs, on an honorary basis.
The new appointments are contained in decree 420-24, announced by President Abinader on his WhatsApp account.
Faride Raful is currently Vice President of the Senate of the Republic, a position she will hold as a legislator until August 16. She is also a senior leader of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM).
Jesús Vásquez, who served as Minister of the Interior and Police during the four years of President Abinader’s first term, was sent as Consul in New York. Vásquez Martínez has extensive experience in managing security and public order.

Meanwhile, Eligio Jáquez, who served as Consul in New York, was sent as an honorary advisor to the Executive Branch for Agricultural Affairs. During his time as Consul, Jáquez played a crucial role in representing and supporting Dominican citizens abroad.
