Independencia.- President Luis Abinader held separate meetings with representatives of the agricultural sector, with community leaders and representatives of neighborhood associations, young entrepreneurs from the Independencia province and handed over 63 homes in the municipality of Jimaní.
With the producers, the president discussed tourism, trade, agricultural production issues and listened to their concerns regarding the repair of access roads to the land where they plant, loans through the Special Fund for Agricultural Development (Feda), plowing for the land, repair of the irrigation channels and increase of resources to the Agricultural Bank for the pledge of rice.
Abinader reaffirmed the government’s support to protect these sectors and urged them to present a development plan to give continuity to all the areas that can be improved and guaranteed that their demands will be answered in order of priority.
At the meeting, the head of the Agriculture Cabinet, Freddy Fernández, listed the work carried out by the mandate of President Luis Abinader in the province of Jimaní, among which he highlighted the start of the construction of 40 kilometers of local roads in the municipalities of Colonia , Guayabal, Batey 8, Boca de Cachón, El Cachón, Come and See, El Limón, Postrer Río, La Descubierta, Cristóbal, Mella, Duvergé and Jimaní.
The production of 15,300 in vitro banana plants to be planted in the territory of the Independencia province, as well as the construction of four community wells.
With community leaders and neighborhood associations
Then, the president met with community leaders and representatives of different neighborhood associations to whom he promised the completion of aqueducts, neighborhood roads and the construction of the Independencia-Puerto Escondido-Pedernales highway and reported installing ATMs of the Banco de Reservas in La Discovered, Postrer Río, Mena and Cristóbal.
In this activity, the Minister of Public Works, Deligne Ascención, announced the investment of approximately 285 million pesos in neighborhood roads in Independencia and 20 million pesos in sidewalks and curbs for Jimaní and Duvergé.
Similarly, he spoke of the work on the Lake Circuit highway and that the 8 kilometers of the Guayabal highway will be built, and that it would take about 10 months.
Minister Deligne also announced that the Baní, Azua, Cabral and El Peñón Beltway is underway, which would mean a saving of two hours on the road to get from Independencia to Santo Domingo.
On his side, the director of the Provincial Development Commission, Ángel de la Cruz, reported that the Guayabal, La Descubierta and Duvergé detachments are under construction. In the latter, they work on a play and a fire station.
Meanwhile, the director of the National Institute of Drinking Water and Sewage, Wellintong Arnaud, said that the Jimaní aqueduct is being built, the drinking water supply networks in Los Alcarrizos and Guanuma are being expanded, and work is being done on the reconstruction of the sector’s tank. La Colonia, El Limón, the extension of the Postrer Río aqueduct and the improvement of the Tierra Nueva aqueduct at the end of September.
In the same tenor, work is being done on the Maniel, Vengan a Ver and Baitoa aqueduct, which will have an investment of more than 4 million pesos, to which is added the La Descubierta Multiple Aqueduct for a value of 240 million pesos.
With young entrepreneurs from Jimaní
To the young entrepreneurs of Jimaní, the president promised to send the Minister of Youth, Rafael Jesús Feliz García, to socialize offers in favor of that sector of that province.
Upon hearing from them that there are no chicken farms in the area, he expressed surprise and announced that he would finance all those who want to install them so that they can sell their production in the local market and export it.
Regarding the problems of low voltage, he promised that it will be solved in a short time and regarding the polytechnics, he affirmed that they are working hard in this sense to change and improve the existing ones.
Home delivery
Later, the president delivered 63 affordable homes to residents of the Jimaní Viejo sector as part of the good news that he brings as part of his purpose of improving the quality of life of all Dominicans.
The construction of the houses was in charge of the Institute for the Development of the Southwest (Indesur), whose executive director, Frank Alejandro Herasme Soto, guaranteed the support of the government headed by Luis Abinader, for the initiatives of this institution, especially those projects that they will reduce the high levels of poverty that are registered in this and the other provinces of the Southwest, especially those that are in the border area.
The houses were delivered fully furnished by the Social Plan of the presidency, an entity directed by Yadira Enrique and consist of 3 bedrooms, living room, bathroom and kitchen and laundry area, made of block and rod, with a zinc roof; They are distributed among the municipalities of Cristóbal, Postrer Río, Mella, Duvergé, La Descubierta and Jimaní, in Independencia.
