Santo Domingo.- The President Luis Abinader announced that next Tuesday, August 13, the first peak will be given for the construction of the Second terminal of the Americas International Airport (AILA), as part of the commitments assumed in the renegotiation of the contract with the company Dominican airports 21st century (Aerodom).
Abinader offered the information during his participation in the traditional Corripio communications group lunch, where he addressed various issues of national interest, including infrastructure, international trade and budgetary execution.
“In addition to the works that are being executed with the resources of Aerodomnext week we give the first peak of the second terminal of the Ailaas established in the renegotiated contract, ”said Abinader.
The president stressed that to follow up on these projects, a special commission was created by the engineer Canary, and composed of communicators and technicians, including Rafael Canó and Rafael Maldonado.

Use of funds and new works
The Head of State defended the good negotiation of the contract with Aerodom, highlighting that thanks to the funds derived from it, important infrastructure works in the Great Santo Domingo are being financed, including overpasses and bridges.
Among the aforementioned interventions are:
• The overpass at the intersection of Painting Avenue with February 27, whose inauguration is projected before October.
• The road solution project at the intersection of the Kilometer 9 of the Duarte Highway.
• Works on Republic of Colombia avenues and Jacobo Majluta, including an overpass at the exit of victory.
Abinader clarified that the redesign of some works, such as the road solution in the Republic of Colombia, has implied greater costs for expropriation, since it was sought to preserve spaces such as the National Botanical Garden, modifying the original plans of the last government.
“The previous design crossed the Botanical Garden. We made the necessary modifications to protect that area, although that implies an additional cost,” said the president.
International trade and tariffs
During the meeting, the president also referred to the recent debates about the tariffs applied by the United States. He assured that, unlike other countries to which the percentage has been increased, the Dominican Republic has been maintained by 10%.
“We are in permanent contact with the US Department of Commerce. and with Ambassador Grier. We have not increased, as to other countries. We continue to handle this issue with prudence, diplomacy and intelligence, ”he said.
Finally, Abinader valued that even critics such as former president Leonel Fernández have recognized the achievements obtained in Aerodom renegotiation, which considers a sample that public resources have been managed with efficiency and responsibility.
