The President Luis Abinader with the vice president Rachel Peña On Sunday, they led a Council of Ministers and Directors in this municipality, and in it the president announced the start and completion of several important works for the residents of this area.
The mayor said that the buildings analyzed during the council are essential for this municipality.
During the meeting, which lasted three hours, each of the commitments that have been developed in these four years in the municipality of Santo Domingo Este were reviewed and learned about.
The Head of State announced that the Court of Justice will be completed by the end of this year.
In this regard, he asked Mayor Dío Astacio to chair a commission to determine the works that can complement the services of the Court of Justice in coordination with the Ministry of Public Works.
The president also announced that next Tuesday the first groundbreaking will be given for the construction of the extension of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD), which will be built in the surroundings of Ciudad Juan Bosch.
He also said that the Santo Domingo Metropolitan Train is in the process of being tendered. It would start at Máximo Gómez and John F. Kennedy Avenue and cross the Duarte Bridge to Charles de Gaulle and then take the entire Ecological Avenue.
He also highlighted that the municipality plans to build a general hospital, three sewage treatment plants, improve and reconstruct the Malecón de Santo Domingo Este, and that more than 10,000 property titles will be delivered.
He highlighted that the municipality has already worked with an extension of the ITLA, two INFOTEP installations, and the Ecológica avenues that will reach Boca Chica, Hípica and Coronel Fernández Domínguez have been built. He also added that they have plans to improve the Mella highway to San Isidro.
Jose Ignacio Paliza
For his part, the Minister of the Presidency, José Ignacio Paliza, explained that this is the second Council of Ministers and Directors to be held in Santo Domingo Este, since the first was held on January 1, 2021.
Paliza said that nearly 80% of the municipality’s actions have been fulfilled, while others are still being implemented.
He said that the cost of building the UASD will be around RD$1.5 billion and that Vice President Raquel Peña will break ground.
