Abinader and the president of Argentina signed cooperation agreements

Buenos Aires – The presidents of the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader, and Argentina, Alberto Fernández, led the signing ceremony of agreements and a declaration of cooperation between the two nations.

The Dominican and Argentine heads of state signed the declaration of cooperation for hydrocarbon development between the two nations, and that President Abinader described as “vital importance” for our country due to the negative situation in terms of the price of hydrocarbons, which was complicated by the pandemic and has worsened in the face of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

Abinader added that these agreements will be extended to other areas that will be very important for the Dominican Republic, such as the implementation, in the innovation center that will be installed on the north coast of the country, of the latest technology that exists in Argentina. with the satellites that help in the part of telecommunication and climate.

In this regard, the Argentine president, Alberto Fernández, said he was happy with the progress and rapprochement in the bilateral negotiations between the South American nation and the Dominican Republic.

He said that with the signed agreements it will be possible to evaluate the way in which the Dominican Republic can be involved in the satellite technological development that Argentina has been carrying out for many years.

“We want to do it because Central America and the Caribbean deserve our main attention, because the damage that climate change is causing in that area is of magnitude and we need to see ways to prevent and preserve our citizens,” Fernández emphasized.

The president thanked his counterpart Luis Abinader for including a work agenda in Argentina prior to his participation in the inauguration of Chilean President Gabriel Boric.

He also highlighted that they have agreed on issues such as the need to improve the brotherhood between the peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean and the social development they deserve and need.

The presidents also discussed nuclear energy development and nuclear medicine.

Health and agriculture agreements

Another of the signed agreements was the roadmap for the implementation of the transplant agreement between the Ministry of Public Health and the National Institute for Coordination of Transplants of the Dominican Republic and the Ministry of Health and the National Central Single Coordinating Institute for Ablation and Implants of the Argentine Republic.

It was signed by the Dominican Minister of Foreign Affairs, Roberto Álvarez, and the Argentine Minister of Health, Carla Vizzotti.

Regarding this agreement, President Luis Abinader pointed out that it will start in the pediatric area and then extend it in general terms and receive the “excellent Argentine doctors who have made great progress in this area for us to save the lives of our children since in the Dominican Republic We do not have this health technology in practice and we have to take our children out of the country.”

The last agreement signed corresponds to technical cooperation to improve wine production practices between both governments and the Memorandum of Understanding on sanitary and phytosanitary matters between the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of Argentina and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Dominican Republic.

This was signed by the Dominican Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Roberto Álvarez, and of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of Argentina, Julián Andrés Domínguez.

Regarding the wine agreement, the Dominican president recognized that Argentina “is a great power in this sector and that it can help us a lot”, in areas of production raised in the Bahoruco region, where they are already being executed.

High-level authorities from Argentina and the Dominican delegation led by President Luis Abinader participated in the signing of the agreements.
