The brazilian Abel braga was announced this Wednesday as coach for the next season of the Fluminense, a club that he will coach for the fourth time in his career. “Welcome back home, Abel Braga,” the Rio de Janeiro club announced when they introduced the 69-year-old coach, who this year left the Swiss Lugano team.
Marcao, who finished the season as interim coach, will return as assistant to Braga’s new coaching staff. Braga, a former defender who served in the military for three seasons at Paris Saint Germain, has a long career as a coach in clubs in the country, Portugal, the United Arab Emirates, Switzerland and France, where he managed Olympique de Marseille in the 2000-2001 season.
Regional champion with several clubs in the country, Braga holds the titles of the Copa Libertadores and the 2006 Club World Cup with Internacional and led Fluminense in the conquest of the 2012 League, the last of the Rio de Janeiro team.
