Abdón Saguier criticizes pre-candidates for the Presidency

Liberal former senator Miguel Abdón Saguier, stated for Radio Ñanduti that many people who intend to run for the Presidency of the Republic do not read the National Constitution or the Electoral Code, referring to the request of the opposition pre-candidates to increase to seven the number of members in the Independent Electoral Tribunal of the Concertación. He mentioned that in certain cases it is a personal whim.

The criticism refers to a note to the Table of Presidents of Opposition Political Parties and Movements, managed by the head of the Liberal Party, Efraín Alegre, to expand the number of members in the Independent Electoral Tribunal. He pointed out that they intend to hinder the will of all the democratic sectors of the opposition.

He also indicated that the agreement regulations must be applied when requesting the number of members for the electoral court, since this is issued by the National Constitution, the Electoral Law, the Agreement Law and the provisions of the statutes of different parties. and movements. “Some ignore or ignore the regulations that govern this issue raised numbers based on mistrust,” he said.
