Among the political prisoners released by the Government of Nicaragua are Cristiana Chamorro, the candidate for the Nicaraguan Presidency who had the greatest probability of defeating the current president, Daniel Ortega, as well as other opponents such as Félix Madariaga and student leaders Lesther Alemán and Max Sherry.
