Abdala formalizes his return to the PIT-CNT with May 1 ahead

The Representative Table of the PIT-CNT voted unanimously for the return of Marcelo Abdala to the presidency of the union central this Thursday, after crashing drunk in February, an accident due to who had to serve a sentence of community service.

Trip to Geneva and Cuba

The PIT-CNT will participate in the International Labor Conferenceorganized in Geneva, Switzerland, by the World Labor Organization (ILO), from May 27 to June 11, 2022. At the Bureau meeting, Jorge Bermudezinternational secretary of the central and president of the Uruguayan Federation of Health (FUS), informed the general secretary, Elbia Pereira, to The Observer.

Pereira added that The National Federation of Secondary Education Teachers (Fenapes) will also travel to Geneva due to the complaint presented to the ILO for union persecution, framed in the case of union hours. The general secretary indicated that the union supports this motion, but that Fenapes will not be part of the PIT-CNT delegationfor which they invited a representative.

What’s more, the trade union center will travel to Cuba on May 1with his vice president Joseph Lawrence Lopez as representative. Pereira explained that for this event an exchange is carried out, since a trade unionist from the island comes to Uruguay while López goes to Cuba. Pereira clarified that neither of the two activities implies costs for the PIT-CNT
