ABB was crowned champion of the 2024 Simón Bolívar Cup and achieved promotion to the Professional Division of Bolivian football. This Sunday afternoon they beat Totora Real Oruro 3-0, at the Villa Ingenio Municipal Stadium, in the city of El Alto. In the first leg final, which was played on Thursday, the Oruro team had won 2-0.
The home team struck from the start with a goal from Jean Carlo Riasco (2′) with a header, after a cross from a corner kick. The Ecuadorian beat everyone at the top and left goalkeeper Ronaldo Huanacota without a chance.
When the 16th minute was up, the referee Hostin Prado from Cochabamba awarded a penalty to ABB for a foul by Juan Pablo Gómez on Gary Rea. Three minutes later, Rea himself took charge of the maximum penalty, but he did it so badly that he sent the ball over the crossbar.
But the second goal for the El Alto team did not take long to arrive, because Juan Carlos Vedia (23′) masterfully took a free kick to equalize the series and give more excitement to the final. It should be mentioned that the foul taken by Hostin Prado, from which the goal was born, left many doubts, because it gave the impression that Gómez had not committed any infringement on the local forward.
The third goal, which meant promotion for ABB, came unexpectedly after a huge mistake by goalkeeper Huanacota, who came out to cut a deep pass, but did not control the ball and left the goal on a plate for Alejandro Cervantes (36 ‘), who did not forgive.
The one who forgave was the referee Hóstin Prado, who had to send off the local player Randy Barros, in the 40th minute, for delivering a headbutt that left Jairo Thomas bleeding, but he only showed him a yellow card.
The match became much more complicated for Totora Real Oruro and for the plans of its coach José Daniel Gómez, because he was left with ten players, due to the expulsion of Juan Pablo Gómez (50′) for a headbutt to Kevin Romay, an action similar to that of Barros.
The best opportunity for the Oruro team to score a goal was in the 62nd minute. Alexis Bravo finished from outside the area, goalkeeper Aldair Riascos cleared it and Yonar Tenorio appeared on the rebound, but again the local goalkeeper excelled with a spectacular save.
ABB, which is technically directed by David Condori, began to retreat its lines a little and took advantage of the visit to reach the goal defended by Aldair Riascos more often, but without the necessary clarity to reach the goal.
The 3-0 score remained until the end of the match and was enough to win the title, which therefore gives rise to the Professional Division, while Totora Real Oruro will have to play the indirect game.
For now, the team that is committed to direct relegation is Real Santa Cruz and Royal Pari is provisionally in indirect relegation.
