The Central Government has already assigned the funds for this new hiring, even the trucks of the new hiring have been working since last Wednesday.
The director of Technical Services of the Urban and Home Cleaning Authority (AAUD), Álvaro Díaz, explained this Wednesday on Radio Panama about the situation that the entity is going through for the contracting of fleets for the collection of waste, a problem that afflicts the many citizens.
He stated that, since the beginning of February, the contracting that the institution made since March 2020, it ended and the contracts could not be renewed because the Contracting Law does not allow more addenda to be made. “There has been an impasse between ending that contract and starting a new one,” he said.
He explained that these contracts are for the rental of dump trucks and backhoes, which are the equipment that they complemented in 2020 when the contracting began, since the AAUD only had 50 compactor trucks that were not enough for garbage collection. “This contract was made for 64 dump trucks and 26 backhoes. Currently, in February, that hiring ended and we are perfecting the procedures for a new hiring, ”he sentenced.
He stated that the Central Government has already allocated the funds for this new contract, even the trucks of the new contract have been working since last Wednesday.
