“The Business and national employers who require the services of foreign citizens are aware of the obligation to comply with the immigration provisions…”, said the Council’s statement.

Months after the Government’s disposition, the Association of Industrialists and Merchants of Santiago (ACIS) broke an agreement with the representation of the Haitian Consulate in that province in which they promised to facilitate the necessary conditions and demanded by the Dominican State so that immigrants could work calmly in the country, at least in that province.

It is recalled that, at that time, the General Directorate of Migration warned that this agreement was invalid since it did not have the endorsement of the Dominican Government.

Regarding the current situation, in the face of the deportation operations carried out by the General Directorate of Migration, the businessmen assure that these will directly or indirectly affect the actions of various sectors, however, they have expressed their support for the actions of the Dominican Government and his rejection of the statements of the United States Embassy in the country.
