A woman was sentenced to two years in prison for 39 crimes of fraud and one of misappropriationafter stealing around $180 thousand, The Interior Ministry said in a statement.
This person he cheated other people by selling them merchandise online and then kept the money without delivering the products.
The convicted person had been carrying out this activity since 2020, and gathered complaints from seven different departments: Soriano, Maldonado, Montevideo, San José, Canelones, Cerro Largo and Lavalleja.
The Directorate of Investigations referred the woman’s information to the Lavalleja Police, where she had more complaints against her (seven). The officers found the location of the scammer in Las Piedras, Canelones.
