Santo Domingo.- A woman was brought to justice for allegedly committing repeated acts of cruelty against a recently whelped stray dog, in an event that occurred in the Villa Juana sector of the National District.
According to the testimonies collected, this was not an isolated case. Days before the last attack, the accused would have sprayed the animal with battery acid and, subsequently, attacked it with bottle blows, causing extremely serious injuries.
The case was reported by the young man William Betanceswith the support of the National Animal Protection Foundation and Rodríguez Canine Homeorganizations that have accompanied the process and followed up on the dog’s situation.

Due to the severity of the burns, the animal lost much of its skin and required specialized veterinary care, which involved high medical costs to save its life. For safety reasons, the puppies had to be removed from the area to prevent them from being affected as well.
The competent authorities are investigating the case in accordance with current legislation on animal protection, while defense organizations reiterate the call to report any form of abuse against animals.
