The intense rain that fell this Tuesday in La Paz caused an adobe wall and part of a sidewalk to fall on a house. The incident affected three rooms.
“It has soaked, it has become saturated and it has fallen. Luckily, we have not had personal damage, yes material as you can see, but at the moment it is controlled, we are waiting for the owner to take action”, reported the director of Emergencies, Vladimir Vargas.
The official explained that the material fell on the corrugated iron roofs of three rooms, which were destroyed.

According to the Mayor’s Office of La Paz, this wall was wrongly used for containment.
“It is not correct to make this type of walls, but in the house there was this dividing wall that was retaining, it must be a wall designed calculated by a professional and generally it must be made of reinforced concrete or cyclopean, that is what contains the slope” Vargas explained, citing an institutional bulletin.

The director of Emergencies requested the presence of the Public and Social Company for Water and Sanitation (Epsas) to review the mixed pluvial system that is in place and “see if there is damage to it.”
“After that we are going to take action, the first thing is to avoid risks, try to demolish what is causing a problem,” he added. For his part, the deputy mayor of San Antonio, José Francisco Muñoz, reported that the owner of the house was previously notified since he must put the property in line and level.
