The Chihuahua naturist beachlocated in Maldonado, was chosen as one of the 20 best in the world. Nude & Natural magazine, whose chief is the co-author of The World’s Best Nude Beaches & Resorts report, highlighted it, CNN reported.
Located in Portezuelo, a few kilometers from Punta del Este, the beach was recognized for its “photogenic dunes and water temperatures, which even in winter contribute to its appeal,” the outlet mentioned.
For several years the destination was a place for an “unofficial nude getaway,” and in 2000 it gained that legal status. The first nudist hotel in South America was opened there in 2012.
In the ranking, the Uruguayan beach was compared with destinations in Lithuania, New Zealand, Croatia, the United States, Germany, Canada, Greece, Spain and even Hawaii.
Some of the destinations stand out for their crystalline waters, others for the privacy they offer users between the mountains.
