A teacher with a postgraduate or master's degree costs 600 Bs per fortnight, says Fetrasined

The leader of Fetrasined Islenis Pulido criticized that in Venezuela the concept of salary bonuses is being used because these resources are not part of what the workers’ demands would be.

Islenis Pulido, leader of the Federation of Unionized Education Workers (Fetrasined), rejected on Monday, November 4, the low fractional salaries received by teachers in Venezuela, in their different ranks, since he stated that it is not enough for them to be able to live.

In an interview granted to Radio UnionPulido warned that the concept of what is meant by salary is changing due to the bonuses promoted by the State and that they have no impact on the other demands.

«The salary of a teacher is stipulated at 600 Bs biweekly, for a teacher six, who must have a postgraduate degree, specialty or master’s degree. For us, they are changing the concept of what salary is, because we do not take these bonuses as salary, because it is like extra compensation for what they have taken from us and it has no impact on the benefits we have achieved over the years. “They paid 459 bolivars as a monthly bonus,” he said.

For this reason, he emphasized that Fetrasined is raising a request list of five main proposals that includes the proposal of a salary increase for all teachers in the country and respect for the collective contract, that there be educational quality in all public schools, reactivation of the Education Program School Feeding, that there is a guarantee of the proper functioning of public services and infrastructure, just as meetings with federations, unions and educational institutions are required.

Last Friday, November 1, the executive secretary of Fetrasalud, Pablo Zambrano, stated in Fe y Alegría together with the president of Fetrasined, Falime Hernández and the president of Fetraharina, Juan Crespo, that the workers in these sectors remain in deplorable conditions of job.

Hernández emphasized that teachers, despite their training, receive salaries that are insufficient and criticized the fact that the third collective agreement has been paralyzed; Just as he criticized the fact that educational centers do not have good staffing and that teachers have low social benefits.
