«A space for reflection, memory and justice»: The first national meeting of victims of eye injuries.

Most of the victims of eye injuries were injured in the midst of the social outbreak in 2021.

During the demonstrations in 2021, many young people were victims of injuries and abuses by the public force, in response to this they created the movement in Resistance Against Eye Aggressions, MOCAO.

This organization has 71 members throughout the national territory and during the month of March they held the first meeting in Resistance Against Eye Aggressions, MOCAO in Bogotá.

Within the framework of the event, several panels were held with members of various human rights groups and delegates of the Ministry of Defense, among others.

Among the requests that this movement demands from the National Government are the following:

  • That a system of memory, justice, truth and reparation be guaranteed.
  • The construction and building of a comprehensive and specialized lifetime care route for the victims of the National Strike.
  • Demands that are in military justice go to criminal justice.
  • An articulation with the network of museums in order to promote galleries, space for dialogues and pedagogy focused on the theme of victims of police abuse and its perpetrators.
