An air emergency drill took place this Thursday afternoon at the Ezeiza International Airport, supervised and coordinated by the National Civil Aviation Administration (ANAC) and in which airport, municipal and provincial personnel participated, recreating the deviation of an aircraft on the runway with more than 100 people on board and the fire of one of its engines.
in this training an incident suffered by a large aircraft was recreateddue to the runway deviation of a flight with 97 passengers and 7 crew members, which hit the surface generating fire in one of its engines, for which reason the emergency was declared, activating the alarm and the immediate deployment of the rescue means.
Actors who assumed the role of passengers participated in the drill, and were assisted by rescue professionals, firefighters and doctors, receiving care according to their injuries.
Faced with such a scenario, all resources were immediately activated to deal with the emergency, including four airport fire trucks, rescue vehicles and provincial, municipal and local company ambulances.
All the sectors that work in the airport participated, organizations of the province of Buenos Aires, the municipality of Ezeiza and Esteban Echeverría; as well as the Rescue and Fire Extinction Service of ANAC, Aerolineas Argentinas, Orsna, EANA, Intercargo, PSA (Airport Security Police), Argentine Federal Police, Customs, Migrations and Airports Argentina 2000, all under the general coordination of ANAC. .
He also worked in the personal simulation of Senasa, Border Health; the Integrated Health Emergency System (PBA), the Emergency Management Directorate (PBA), the SIES VI technical mobile Bicentennial Hospital of Esteban Echeverría, Santamarina Hospital and the Gate Gourmet company.
These drills, planned at the federal level, are part of the Emergency Plan of each airport, are mandatory by ICAO, the UN agency that regulates civil aviation worldwide, and acquire an essential role with the current increase in post-pandemic flights.
The trainings allow us to respond quickly and efficiently to any eventuality and all the actors execute the respective protocols to guarantee the safety of people and minimize material damage, restoring normality in the operation of the airport in the shortest possible time.
According to ANAC sources, the result of the drill was highly positive, raising air safety standards at the airport with the largest number of international flights in the country, and complying with the Annual Drill Plan proposed by ANAC for the current year.
