MIAMI, United States. – A second Turkish worker who was injured last week in the accident at the KPS-57 floating power plant, located in Havana Bay, died in the early hours of this Friday, as confirmed by the Cuban leader. Miguel Diaz-Canel.
“After several days fighting for his life, Fuat Türkyilmaz, a Turkish worker at the floating electricity generation plant who was injured in the accident on September 26, died this morning,” wrote the ruler in his social network account X.
Díaz-Canel also sent his condolences to the family and colleagues of the deceased, as well as to the Government of Türkiye.

Less than a day before, the Cuban leader also reported the death of Halil Karadeniz, another of the Turkish workers injured in Havana.
“They have just confirmed to us that Halil Karadeniz, a worker for the Turkish company Karen, who had been injured in the accident at the electricity generation plant in Havana, died,” said the president.
Behind him accident at the Turkish floating power plant, eight workers were injured. Five of the eight injured were Turks and were hospitalized in the “Hermanos Ameijeiras” Clinical Surgical Hospital.

The incident occurred while welding work was being carried out on the lake, as confirmed by the state Electric Company. The Minister of Energy and Mines, Vicente de la O Levy, reported on social networks that the fire was quickly controlled.
According to the information revealed in the X account of Jair Morales Rodríguez, vice head of the Economic Department of the Central Committee of the PCC, the accident occurred in a floating power plant which is not used for electricity generation but is used as “shelter and logistics” for the company Turkish Karen.
