A low pressure system located in the north of the country east of the Turks and Caicos Islands in the Atlantic Ocean has a 90% chance of becoming a tropical cyclone.

Showers, thunderstorms and gusts of moderate to strong winds could occur in María Trinidad Sánchez, Puerto Plata, Duarte, Montecristi, Dajabón and Santiago Rodríguez as the phenomenon moves to the north of the country.

On the coast of the Atlantic Ocean, small boat operators are recommended to navigate with caution near the coastal perimeter due to abnormal waves greater than 7 feet high and reduced visibility.

In the Caribbean Sea from Pedernales to La Romana the waves are normal, according to the Indomet marine forecast. Therefore residents in the Turks and Caicos Islands, southeast of the Bahamas and eastern Cuba should closely monitor the system, because tropical storm warnings could be issued.
