An official of the Bolivarian National Police (PNB), identified as Erick José Ramón González (30), was deprived of liberty for allegedly demanding the sum of $2,500 from a 72-year-old man for a traffic violation.
The situation occurred on October 22 in the La Candelaria parish, Libertador municipality of the Capital District.
According to the report from the Public Ministry, in the afternoon of the aforementioned day the septuagenarian was on board his vehicle in the aforementioned place when the official told him to stop when he realized that he had committed an infraction, so he detained him and then demanded the aforementioned amount to let him go.
Next, the victim asked Ramón González to accompany him to his workplace to give him the money.
Upon arriving at the site, company employees had notified the irregularity to the Response to Police Deviations office, so the cash was immediately seized and placed at the disposal of the Prosecutor’s Office.
At the presentation hearing, the 76th Prosecutor’s Office of the Caracas Metropolitan Area (AMC) charged Ramón González with the crimes of constriction to obtain sums of money and intentional delay or omission of functions in the aggravated modality.
Once the elements of conviction presented by the prosecutor’s representation were exposed, the 40th Court of the AMC issued the aforementioned custodial measure against the man, who was confined in the El Rodeo II Judicial Confinement Center, located in Guatire.
