A pilot detects a strange red glow under the clouds while flying over the Atlantic Ocean

A pilot flying over the Atlantic Ocean has seen a huge red glow at night coming from under clouds with an unknown origin.

As shared in a viral Reddit thread, the pilot who took the photo, identified by the media as Dustin Maggard, is a friend of the person who shared the images, and says that “never seen anything like it”. After the images were published, users did not hold back to express their own ideas about what could cause this phenomenon.

Fishing boats with powerful LED lights

Between jokes and suggestions that they could be UFOs, or perhaps a gateway to the “upside Down” of stranger thingsthere are those who pointed out thate most likely were fishing boats that use large arrays of LED lights to attract and capture the Pacific Saury, a type of bait fish.

Neil Jacobs, a leading weather modeling expert, consulted by CNN, corroborated the theory about the boats that fish for Pacific lizards. “They were commercial fishing boats,” Jacobs told CNN’s Jeanne Moos in a short video. “I’m sure”.

Jacobs logged onto a public database of fishing vessels and used his knowledge to locate the vessels in question, which Moos said could even be seen from the International Space Station.

Pay more attention to fishing in the Pacific?
