The poet’s legacy Fine Garcia-Marruz was remembered this Monday with a panel at the headquarters of the Cub Writers and Artists Uniona (UNEAC), on the occasion of its centenary.
The writers Ivette Fuentes and Pedro Simón, the poet and essayist Roberto Méndez and relatives such as Jesefina de Diego García-Marruz focused the tribute in the Villena room.

At the meeting, Editorial Cauce presented the plaquette Owner of the word: poems dedicated to Finaas well as the Magazine that for her 90th birthday was dedicated to the Cuban poet and essayist.
Also the pianist and composer José María Vitier Marruz, one of the poet’s sons, would interpret the writer’s favorite works on the piano, according to report of Latin Press (PL).
The tribute is part of the activities of the 31st Havana International Book Fair, which recognizes the importance of García-Marruz’s work in Latin American literature.

But, since last week the jubilee for the centenary of García-Marruz had begun with the deposit of a floral offering in the Mother Teresa de Calcutta Cemetery, which was followed by a conversation between family, friends and collaborators in the Eusebio Leal Spengler House .
According to a report by Radio Ciudad de La Habana, José María Vitier affirmed that Fina had left an extraordinary work not only in published works, but also in unpublished pieces of prose.
“For her, music was synonymous with joy,” she stated, noting that in her home there was never a lack of musical presence or poetry, conditions that inspired her vocation.
Of the genius of the poet, he expressed that “her natural state was an imaginary with the infinite capacity for fantasy and the impossibility of children to lie.”

For her part, Josefina de Diego García-Marruz, also present, said of her aunt that “She is one of the greatest lyrical voices in Cuban letters, and I don’t think my affection blinds me when I affirm this.”
One of the most emotional points of the meeting was listening to a recording of Fina, singing in French, whose voice was accompanied by José María Vitier from the piano, the radio source points out.
Fina García-Marruz left works such as poems (1942), Transfiguration of Jesus on the Mount(1947), visitations (1970) or Poems by Juana Borrero (1967).
