A new edition of the Yo Estudio y Trabajo program was launched

The Ministry of Labor and Social Security (MTSS) launched the twelfth edition of the Yo Estudio y Trabajo program, a proposal aimed at students between the ages of 16 and 20.

In addition to Minister Pablo Mieres, the Ministers of Social Development, Martín Lema, and of Education and Culture, Pablo da Silveira, as well as the National Director of Employment, Daniel Pérez, also participated in the event.

During the conference, the figures of a study carried out by the World Bank (WB) on this State policy were presented, in which it was concluded that the participants improve their performance in the labor market and that it facilitates the transition from school to work.

Regarding this point, Mieres said that the program has enormous virtues, because it is aimed at people at a key age for the future of the country and responds to problems in Uruguayan society. He also specified that the purpose of the initiative is to guarantee the continuity of young people in the educational system and contribute to their job placement.

Regarding the study, the minister expressed his pride in the results, since they show the advantages of the program in terms of gender equality, future labor inclusion and educational continuity. Likewise, he announced that it is planned to add, in the next Accountability, an article to extend the plan to the private sector, with funds from the employment promotion law.

Registration requirements

The young people who register to participate in the raffle to enter the Program must meet the following requirements: be between 16 and 20 years old at the time of registration; be enrolled in a course that is going to start soon or be taking it. It can be formal education (high school, UTU, University, etc.) or non-formal. Non-formal education courses must have a minimum workload of 240 hours in total and belong to institutions registered and/or authorized by MEC, ANEP, or INEFOP; not currently working and not having had formal work experience for more than 90 continuous days or, in case of discontinuous work, it may not be more than 90 days in a period of two years; All ordered lists resulting from the draw are subject to BPS control, where compliance with this requirement will be verified in the employment history of those registered.

Youth Enrollment

Young people must register exclusively by completing the registration form that will be available on the website: www.inscripcion.com.uy

Lottery

All registered young people will participate in a raffle from which a priority list of those who are drawn is drawn up.

Respecting the order of said list, the places will be awarded based on the positions offered by the companies and public organizations adhering to the program, according to locality and department. There will be as many draws as locations where positions are offered.
