A new case of monkeypox is reported in Panama

The Department of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Health (Minsa) informs that, to date, a new case has been confirmed, which increases to 226 the accumulated confirmed cases with monkeypox as of May 4, of which 89 cases were during the year 2022. and 137 so far in 2023.

That is why MINSA emphasizes that prevention is the most efficient weapon to avoid contagion with this disease.

Of the 226 accumulated cases, 3 patients are currently active (2 in home isolation and 1 in health facilities), while 223 ended their isolation without major setbacks. At the moment, only one (1) death remains, due to monkeypox.

The accumulated cases have resulted positive 224 men and 2 women; and the distribution of cases, remain in the age range between 19 to 59 years.
