It is one of the bloodiest wars in the region. And the result was decisive for what would come later. That fierce clash between the Argentine Ignacio Warnes and the Santa Cruz Francisco Xavier de Aguilera will be narrated this Friday the 22nd, at eight at night, in a music magazine which seeks to educate about that historical chapter and also stir up healthy debate among attendees. ‘Blood on the sands of El Pari’ will be presented under the direction of the well-known professor and researcher Héctor Molina Peña at the theater hall of the Raúl Otero Reiche Municipal House of Culturelocated on the west sidewalk of Plaza 24 de Septiembre.

The artistic show, endorsed by the Municipal Secretariat of Culture and Tourism of the Municipal Government, will be articulated by ingredients of dance and music, with a common thread that will tell all the moments before, during and after the Battle of El Pari, which happened between November 21 and 22 on the outskirts of the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra.

The reference point is the corner of Grigotá Avenue and Second Ring, where the monument to El Chiriguano and Fátima Square currently rest. Throughout that area, Warnes and Aguilera faced each other, but there is no official record of how many people were on the battlefield and at what time the fight began; ‘it is said’ that there were 3,000 competitors and that the entire conflict lasted the night of the 21st and the dawn of the 22nd. There is nothing concrete or exact.

The man who knows the history of Santa Cruz indicates that the public will know the battle without passion and without fanaticism, but rather with absolute coldness, but reflective with which we must look at the participation of great people who fought and even gave their lives to achieve better days for our region.” “We live in a time with so much technology and media influence, that we are gradually and even rapidly being overwhelmed. It is good to remember or know certain stages of our history that are being absorbed by time and by modernism, in addition, there is little or little information about our history in schools, universities and the media”explains Molina.

‘Blood in the sands of El Pari’ will provide a recreation of that Santa Cruz de la Sierra of 1810. The public will be able to see – in 3D – how the main square and its surroundings were formed, for example, on the corner of 24 de Septiembre and René Moreno streets, the Cathedral did not yet exist and there was a church with Jesuit details. Let’s travel to the time of a quiet town and forgotten by the Western powers that, remaining isolated, had its multiple needs that it had to face in its own way.

It will become one of the most important political and geographical mutinies of the War of Independence and will have to endure one of the bloodiest battles that will chart the course towards our freedom.”says the creator of the Paitití Cultural Project, whose solid foundation has been in place for four decades.

208 years ago, the royalist Aguilera won the fight against the patriot Warnes. Now, the Argentine stands in the center of the Plaza de Armas 24 de Septiembre. Surprisingly, Santa Cruz does not have any historical reference in the eastern city.

Admission to the show costs Bs 50 and tickets can be purchased by calling 770-03183 or at the entrance to the room on the same night of Friday the 22nd.
