There are four former SENNIAF officials charged with the crime of mistreatment of children or adolescents, for their links with the transfer of the two victims to the adult rehabilitation center where the events took place.
Bolívar Lanuza Araúz was sentenced to 12 years in prison for committing crimes against freedom and sexual integrity, specifically aggravated libidinous acts and aggravated rape, as perpetrator, to the detriment of two minors, in a rehabilitation for adults with drug dependency problems, located in the district of Las Garzas.
According to the Circuit Prosecutor Kira Brokamp, a sentence agreement was reached in which, in addition to 144 months in prison, Lanuza Araúz will be disqualified from holding office in kindergartens, schools or places of meeting and development of minors for 120 months, after serving the prison sentence, contemplated in article 50 literal H of the Penal Code.
The Public Ministry began the investigations ex officio in August 2020, after the abuses to which minors were subjected were disclosed through the media within the rehabilitation center for adults with addiction problems where they were also sheltered minors.
The Specialized Family Section of the Metropolitan Prosecutor’s Office maintains another investigation in the intermediate phase (accusation) where there are four former officials of the National Secretariat for Children and Adolescents (SENNIAF) accused of the crime of mistreatment of children or adolescents, for their links with the transfer of the two victims to the rehabilitation center for adults where the events occurred.
