A man was sentenced to 10 years and six months in effective prison for crimes of sexual abuse in Ciudad del Plata (San José), reported sources from the prosecutor’s office.
In this case, a woman had been sentenced to seven years in prison for mistreatment of three girls aged 12, 11 and 5. She was classified as a co-author of repeated crimes of especially aggravated sexual abuse, in a regime of real reiteration with a crime of gender-based violence “.

These events gained notoriety after one of the girls told some of her friends about the situation at school. Some recorded the testimony and showed it to the teacher. Then, the teacher presented it to the principal who made the complaint.
The Comprehensive System for the Protection of Children and Adolescents against Violence (Sipiav) and the Enjoyable Schools program intervened on this issue.
Later, The girls were transferred to the Police Hospital where they were treated under the sexual abuse protocol with medical review and psychiatric and psychological reports.
The girls are under protection at the Institute for Children and Adolescents of Uruguay. The girls assured that they want to stay there and that they do not want to return home, Cecilia Gutiérrez, Libertad prosecutor, told El Observador.
